Euro Plates is for fun. When traveling in Europe, my wife and I enjoy looking at car plates and now we know where they are from. Most of the source information comes from various hobbyist websites. Some data comes from other users. Please email me with questions, suggestions, or issues. You can also visit the Wikipedia site that explains each countries license plate format, as each European state has its own. This version contains all European states, including those not in the EU.
Please note that several countries only show country codes on their plates, and the license plates to not relate to a region in the country. The states still show wiki information and maps.
When you start the app, you'll see a list of countries and their flags. Some countries have an EU sign. Others are in Europe but are not part of the European Experiment. Select a state to continue.
So, if you're driving, and see a car with the country plate "BG", you'll know that they come from Italy - kidding, they come from Bulgaria.
If you tap on Bulgaria, you'll see a list of towns/regions. Look at the car and see the letters on the plate. Let's say they are "BT", that means they come from a place called "Veliko Tarnovo".
Tap that town, and you'll see a choice of maps or wiki information about that town. See the following images.
In the map, you can drill down all the way to see houses, and addresses. Like to zoom out, and see where Bulgaria is in relation to its neighbors.
In the wiki, you can read all about the area you've selected.
It's probably best not do use the app while driving - unless you are the passenger.
